Wetter hopfen am see (literally “wet hops at the lake”) is a traditional German beer festival held annually in late August or early September on the shores of Lake Constance in the town of berlingen. The festival celebrates the local hop harvest and features a variety of beers brewed with fresh hops, as well as traditional German food, music, and dancing.
The festival has its roots in the Middle Ages, when farmers would bring their freshly harvested hops to the lake to be weighed and sold. Over time, the event evolved into a celebration of the hop harvest, and by the 19th century, it had become one of the most popular festivals in the region. Today, the festival attracts over 100,000 visitors each year and is considered one of the most important beer festivals in Germany.
