The Home Run Derby is a single-elimination tournament. The eight competitors are seeded based on their home run totals during the first half of the season. The first round of the tournament consists of four quarterfinal matches. The winners of the quarterfinal matches advance to the semifinals. The winners of the semifinals advance to the final match.
Each batter gets 3 minutes in the first round, 2 minutes 30 seconds in the semifinals, and 2 minutes in the finals. Batters can call for a 45-second timeout once during each round.
